Maybe not ALL bad…

Okay, so maybe the unit has not been ALL bad… Some of the other residents I’m working with are pretty freakin’ funny and I’ve spent quite of bit of time laughing and crackin jokes. If you have ever heard of “movie speak”, its been out of control this week. People firing off movie quotes left and right. Impersonations galore. Songs have even broken out spontaneously. Before reading on, watch a few seconds of this video of context…

So today, we were sitting around at lunch, just bitching and moaning about the POA for one of our patients, who has been in a post arrest coma for the past week. EVERY day he says he’s going to come in and help us make decisions about what to do for her. EVERY day he never shows up.  For whatever reason, it made me think of a patient we coded last month. During the code, pretty much the whole family went out to the parking lot, got baked, and came back to the unit reeking of weed as we continued to code their relative.  So back to today, after the resident finished bitching about the POA, I kinda sing under my breath… “because I got high, because I got high”…. One of the other residents heard me and it was on from there….

WAS GO GONNA SEE MY MOMS, but then I got high….

MAKE  HER DNR-DNI, but then I got high…

NOW SHES TRACHED AND PEGGED,  I KNOW WHY! Because I got high, because I got high, because I got high….

About ER Jedi

I’m a resident doctor in Emergency Medicine and I’ve learned during the past few years that 1) I’ve had some pretty amazing experiences 2) I have a very bad short-term memory. So this blog is just a place for me to write about some of these experiences, from the ER, medical school, the wards and life in general. At least that way I’ll have some idea as to where I’ve been all this time. A scrap-book of sorts, a place to vent, organize some clinical tools and post a few good songs I’ve heard along the way.
